WIA Youth Employment Programs

Helping WIA eligible 14 through 21 year olds with work readiness and work experiences. The Latin Chamber Foundation’s Youth Access Programs provide employment readiness and training in the following employment sectors: 1) Clean Energy, 2) Manufacturing, 3) Aerospace and Defense, 4) Logistics and Operations, 5) Health and Medical Services, and 6) Business and Medical IT Ecosystems. The Foundation has aligned its efforts with Governor’s Economic Plan for the Nevada, which has identified these areas as key sectors with promise for growth in Nevada, and is committed to helping youth prepare for and enter the jobs of tomorrow. The Foundation intends to help Southern Nevada youth who lack the work readiness, work experience and training in these fields to gain new skills and abilities in order to achieve access to these career fields. Work readiness is attained through intensive instruction focusing on hard and soft employment skills such as dress, punctuality, resume preparation, interviewing skills, educational readiness and application completion. Placing youth in work experiences with partner employers is a key strategy to combat the unacceptably high school dropout and youth unemployment rates in our community—especially among minority, poor and non-English proficient populations who comprise a large portion of the people we help.
